Web Maintenance And You

Release to BEC Clients: July 2016

Hi Everyone,

Last fall, we started providing website maintenance services to clients in the hopes that, in addition to lessening the likelihood of hacking, it would decrease the time we spend handling website emergencies.

This move has dramatically decreased incidences of clients needing unhacking (two websites versus twelve last year).

As our marketing work expands, however, we’ve decided to step away from maintaining websites.

Starting on September 1st, 2016 we will no longer be maintaining websites.

What does that mean? Don’t worry, we’re not going to leave you in the lurch!

Here are some options:

  1. Finding a new maintenance firm. If you still would like someone else to handle website maintenance for you, we recommend Leslie Fournier of Barndog Creative. Leslie’s full suite of services can be seen here: http://barndogcreative.com/website-care-packages (We are also happy to make the introduction directly if you prefer.) We have worked with her in the past on maintenance work so we can vouch for her skills.  If you have another person/company in mind, we are happy to debrief and give them the necessary access information so they can begin work.

  2. Maintaining your Wordpress software yourself or within your company. We will happily re-train anyone on this list how to update the software on their website. If you are going this route, we recommend you also use a service like Sucuri that will regularly scan files on your behalf. https://sucuri.net/website-antivirus/signup

If something happens to your website and it needs unhacking, we are happy to put you in touch with companies who do this for you. Connecting your business to needed resources is something that is still a core part of our mission; we just are no longer doing this work ourselves.

Breaking Even Communications is still committed to helping all clients. We are happy to go over any questions or concerns that arise from this transition.

We are still here to support our friends and fellow businesses with their online presence, but are focusing our energy exclusively on internet marketing work.

If there are any questions about this, please feel free to email us ([email protected]) or call us (207-812-0285).Cheers,Nicole, John, and Kassie
