10 Lazy Marketing Tasks You Can Do When Your Brain Is Fried
December 2022
If the idea of someone asking you to analyze, optimize, or finalize one more thing makes you want to scream, read on.
Listen, I’m all for goal setting and making plans… but I’m also trying to get through the end of the year, and I’m guessing you are too.
If you’re looking to accomplish something without spending HOURS on it, the list below has something you can knock out and be left in a better spot than you were before with your marketing. Bonus points are some of them can be accomplished on your laptop with your feet up and your favorite holiday movies playing in the background. Does anyone else rewatch “The Holiday” every year?
Happy Holidays to you and yours from the BEC team and me, and thank YOU for being a friend on this list. Here’s a link if you want to schedule a no-obligation virtual coffee catch up sometime.

Apparently editing client videos and spending time with furry loved ones are not mutually exclusive (yes, they have an entire cat bed to the left, they just like my desk better).

“Lazy” Marketing Tasks You Can Achieve Today
Here’s small wins you can get done in a couple hours, why it’s worth doing them, and some resources if you need a bit of info to start.
Write a privacy policy and link it in the footer of your website.A privacy policy is a must-have if you want to run ads or marketing campaigns. You can get a template online and fill it in with your details (ex: adding parts specific to your web host or remarketing pixels installed on your website).
Make an Instagram carousel in Canva. A carousel is one of the first things we create for any new marketing client. It allows us to visually create different slides they like while also tooling their key messaging. Once you have a carousel, you can reuse individual slide designs as singular image posts on social media, add narration to it to make it a video, and more.
Add a newsletter subscription page to your website. If you’re tired of telling people to click on your homepage and scroll halfway down to sign up for your email list, making a page on your site yourdomain.com/newsletter makes it easier to get them there. You can use that page to link to some of your best newsletters, archives of recent newsletters, or fun things people have said about your newsletters.
Add five new photos to your Google Business listing. We forget to update those photos too, but chances are you’ve gotten some new products, recently changed something in your physical location, or have new photo opps you should add to your business listing.
Record a 60-second ‘small business check’ video and upload it to Youtube Shorts, Pinterest, Instagram, Google My Business, and Tiktok (whichever ones you use). Don’t worry about it being perfect. You can make a square and vertical version of the video for the most options. If you’re stuck on content, you can even make a tour. Here are a couple of examples on Anchorspace’s Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@workatanchorspace/videos
Create a way where customers can donate or buy a gift certificate. You can do this in software like jotform.com (not an affiliate) and pay $19/month to connect it to your Stripe.com online payment processing account (free to set up).
Email or text three former customers/clients to catch up.It’s easy for life to get busy. Still, if you have a few people you’ve enjoyed working with or miss seeing at your business, a quick email or text to say hi genuinely might re-engage them. Or give you valuable insight into how your ideal customer sees the world.
Schedule three social media updates tagging three different businesses. Do you love the service from the local ISP at your office? Do you appreciate a local band that performed at your open house a couple of months ago? Upload a throwback picture or make a social post tagging a business you’ve liked working with. They’ll appreciate it, and you’ll be able to get in front of a new audience with your content.
Rework your homepage.I don’t know one person, myself included, who likes the homepage of their website. So update the content and make it work better for you. Note: set a timer if you don’t want to get sucked in. What can you improve in an hour? Probably swap out a couple of pictures and rewrite some text, which can feel like a big difference. Some of these are one-offs, and some could be ongoing if they work well! Doing any of these will make you feel better about your marketing, and if you need help, we’re here.
This month, we did our first Youtube collab with TikTok marketer Julie Anderson, where we discussed how she was trained to market as part of her former MLM, and I talked about how that was similar and different from my marketing experiences. It was a super interesting conversation, and you might like it!
